When the BBC moved into its new building in 19 32, it was described as a 'sound factory' It had three basement floors of studios and a concert hall. Then above ground, you've got eight more floors in a central block of studio. So all the studios are in acentral blocka wrapped around by hundreds of offices. The one thing that might have been surprising if you'd been a member of staff was that almost as soon as the building was opened, it was discovered to be too small.
