Stammering - How Did This Make Him Feel?

When he was a child stammering was thought to be a defect so the future king was corrected and even punished by his family and staff. They were very tough and harsh and strict with him because they thought that the stammer was a defect. It would have made him feel very self-conscious and tense about speaking now if you're self-conscious it means that you're very aware of yourself.
