How History Can Transform Science and Medicine?

History plays a very important role in trying to explain that complex past to especially European policymakers. People forget smallpox was only eradicated in 1980, certified eradicated in 1950. Many people who face violence during smallpox vaccination programs are now fathers and grandfathers of mothers and grandmothers. So I think it's very important for historians to remind policy makers of the provenance of the planning of such programs.
