This racist understanding of how white versus black people experience pain ironically makes white people more vulnerable to this new wave of prescription opioid addiction. This really goes back to some of the overarching points about whiteness being a system. It's not a it's not a kind of person or a group of people It's a system that is most powerfully aligned with the engines of capitalist profit making and you can see those in oxycontin's marketing, right? Those are the promises, but those also aren't necessarily delivered.
