In the 1990s, JP Morgan focused on investing alongside leading private equity funds and managing the bank's capital. That model proved to be very, very successful. In fact, as things subsequently played out, what you saw is that wave of bank consolidation that I've referred to, ultimately brought banks. The US middle market is the third largest economy in the world.
