The Barber's Secret to the King

King Midas had started wearing fancy hats everywhere, even to bed, a year ago. The barber was the only person in the kingdom trusted with the knowledge that the king had such ears. He knew he could keep the secret for his king - under penalty of death. For about three weeks there, by the edge of the river, a wreath sprouted and grew in the sunlight. It grew and quickly became tall and strong, and also it could talk. A man heard from the river but didn't see anything until another man came along who finally discovered its source.
