Kennedy's Response to the Bay of Pigs Disaster
Mark White, professor of history at Queen Mary London and author of several books on the American presidency. He says Bay of Pigs was Kennedy's first major decision during his presidency in terms of foreign policy. The disaster affected JFK in a personal sense because he'd had a charmed life, not always personally. One good thing that comes out of the Bay of Pigs is it causes Kennedy to be skeptical towards his generals and the CIA. And so from that point on, he's much more careful at screening their advice and being prepared to eject it.
