How did Tito come to be the dominant force in Yugoslavia politics over the course of the Second World War? First, let us stress the Communist Party was very weak at the beginning of the war. In spite of that, the leading forces and leaders of the new Communist Party were real internationalists,. educated and multinational leadership. It had also a positive experience of clandestineity and of political and social confrontation.
