In your book, trust and distrust, you look at the changing attitudes to corruption in britain between 16 hundred and 18 50. So how common was corruption in this period, and what forms did it take? A measuring corruption is an incredibly difficult thing. I think perhaps the eighteenth centuries is perhapsr century when people are really very, very worried about the prevalence of corruption.
