Originally UFOs were known as flying sources so when they were first seen well in the modern sense. A news editor came up with the phrase flying sources and so that literally went around the world overnight I know it's a it's a bit hackney but like it went viral. If you said UFO to people today what do you mean by a UFO the definition will be exactly the same as flying saucer because object implies solid craft. UAP is an acronym for Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon which means aerial phenomena i.e. plasmas or things burning up in atmosphere.
