The Foreign Office's Role in the Covid Pandemic
The foreign office has a massive task ahead because it was so appallingly badly run and organised during the Covid pandemic. I think when Portugal was suddenly moved to Amber, maybe then immediately to red, the foreign office was just doing whatever the Department of Health told it to do. And so you had this bizarre situation where Portugal was being put in the same category of risk as parts of Kabul in Afghanistan. Absolutely ludicrous. The whole thing was ludicrous and utterly disproportionate. Now they seem to have stopped doing such things, but maybe the way they were so free and easy about saying, oh, don't go here, don’t go there, makes it and everybody getting their money
