How to Assess Performance of a Debt Fund
Most folks don't understand that debt fund is not the same as F.T., although they are sold. You can say an FD return of 7.7.5% is good, but you cannot simply just say, you know, the market gave me 6%, so it's a bad performing fund. It can't help it if the market itself gives 4 to 6%. So, what happened? Why did a debt fund which supposed to protect my portfolio end up with negative returns? That's another complexity that people cannot kind of wrap their heads around very easily.
