Florida Power and Light - The Ghost Candidates Candle

In Florida, a utility called Florida Power and Light is accused of paying some political consultants. And these consultants then routed money to unaffiliated independent candidates for state legislative elections who were designed to siphon votes away from Democrats. In at least one case, the main attribute of the candidate was that they had the same last name as the Democrat, which is useful if you're trying to siphon voters away. That Senator went on to lose reelection by 34 votes. So in these state races that can have really close margins, this utility money has an effect.
