Steve Richter asks why SpaceX is not working on more reuse of the Falcon 9 second stage. Would it be doable by adding a Starship type heat shield and then carrying some more fuel that would be used to slow down the second stage during your entry? Is this technique possible? Just not cost productive? Richard Branson: I don't understand why the larger Starship generates more reentry heat and has to fire more rocket fast. Maybe SpaceX could design a smaller Starship one that could be launched by the Falcon 9 first stage.
