We tend to view nomadic societies from our perspective in a negative way. We have tended just to focus on this one side of their character, which is a violence. The mongols had very, very low tax, tax tariffs. It didn't matter whether you were a mongrel or a christian, or a sky worshipper. They could travel and all the elements of the european renaissance came along with them.
