The Importance of Thick Walls in Stone Construction
Walls had to be thick just to support the weight of the building. So you have your great mound and your tower on top. Or if you're investing in stone, you just simply have your great tower. height is a major thing. Thick walls. By the time you get to building in stone, there's a certain sense in which they need to be thick. You might say this as a revisionist argument. But these are really, really hard buildings to take.
