The Epidemiology of Retrocalconial Bursitis and Haglins Deformity
retrocalconial bursitis is defined as inflammation of the bursa between the anterior aspect of the Achilles and the posterior aspect of the calcaneus. A haglins deformity is an enlargement of the postural superior tuberosity of the calceneus. On physical exam, patients may have pain localized to anterior and 2-3 cm proximal to the Achilles tendon insertion. As far as imaging, lateral radiographs of the foot demonstrates a haglins deformity.
