The capital is compromised by thousands of rioters, and the safety of those inside remains in question. The national guard finally begins clearing the complex around four forty five p m. House leadership and staff begin making arrangements to resume the electoral certification. It is unclear if any rioters remain. There are concerns that the capital grounds may have pipe bombs similar to those found at the r and c and d ance. Despite the day's events, several republican lawmakers continue to object to the certification, taking the debate into the late hours of the evening.
