The Optics of the US Debt Ceiling
The thought of the US really defaulting on their debt was just non-existent a year ago. But it does feel like that there's a lot more momentum based on kind of these self-inflicted wounds, says John Defterios. The optics of this are not good at all and could prompt central banks around the world to look for alternatives in terms of managing their investments. And as we discussed earlier, it might start to accelerate the use of alternatives, pushing other trading partners into other camps.
