Is Algarythmic Transparency Not Useful?
Twitter is experimenting with ranking algaritms using source code. The idea of allowing people to choose between different ranking algarithms in the way that their their feed works, is obviously intuitively appealing. But i'm curious how you think about that trade-off and whether it isn't just a little bit of power traded off. I think generally, the push over the last half decade of the te lash has been people wanting platforms to play a greater gate keeping role, not a lesser one.
