The Darkest Days of the Premier League
In 1990, Luton stayed up on the last day of the season when we beat Derby away. In 1991, Luton Town did it again and against Derby once more. The riches of the Premier League beckoned but they were relegated in 1992. Four years later, Luton were in the third tier, where they would stay until another further relegation in 2001. Joe Kineer brought them back up at the first attempt and then enter John Gurney. Despite the unorthodox nature of his appointment, Mike Newell won League One and brought the club back to the championship in 2005.
