What Was the Atmosphere of the Trial?

The trial of augustus bollin was the most exciting thing to have happened in a dublin court room in years. The inquiry had been quiescent for so long that i think a lot of people had despaired of ever catching the killer. In 18 57 it was not permissible for a wife to give evidence in court against her husband. That ruling was not revoked until 18 97, which seems extraordinary now, but it is true.
