Scoliosis in duchen muscular distrophe is considered a neurogenic curve. Most patients are unable to ambulate independently by age ten. Malignant hyperothermia is common intra operatively, and these patients will be pre treated with dantreline. Other complications include intra operative cardiac events. anterior and posterior spinal fusion is rarely indicated for stiff curves.
