Can We Expand Cells in Vitro?

There was this idea called the hay flick limit in which there's this suspected maximum of possible cell divisions, I don't 60 50 between before and after. We also know that in vivo cells that are chronically stimulated do undergo some kind of progressive exhaustion. Is this exhaustion inevitable? Can we expand cells in vitro? Or is this how can we expand cells for how long can cells actually sustain a population? And are there any experimental conditions in which we can keep the cells alive?
