The Origins of Diamonds
A diamond is incredibly hard material and it's very difficult to melt. Researchers blasted a small diamond at ultra high pressures like those found on gas giants such as Neptune in Uranus. When the pressure dropped to about 11 million times the atmospheric pressure at sea level here on earth, guess what happened? Chungs and diamond. They began to appear in little islands of diamond, liquid diamond. And they think that this could actually help explain some of like the cool, the weird stuff going on with the magnetic field there.
