The First Transatlantic Flygt - Unbelievable
The first transatlantic flight was made by olcock and brown in 19 19. They were picked up early one morning, and photographs appeared in a newspaper. But that really put an end to the idea that the dirigible could fly. A week later, you had this extraordinary aviation meeting at new york. The high point was a race round the statue of liberty and back. Only three aircraft took part but it was a wondrous sight. It reached speeds of 75 miles an hour - unheard of for so long.
