Witchcraft is a religious crime of apostasy, i suppose. It's like renouncing your faith in christ and pledging allegiance to satan. So that the definition of witchcraft as a crime is really rather a hybrid between maleficium, the causing of harm, and this er, heirony. And so the patterns that you've described there of, you know, everything from the mundane things in life to big misfortunes being blamed, perhaps, on an evil insider are very typical.
