Do Drug Ads Really Work?
In 19 97, the fta eased restrictions to allow pharmaceudical companies to advertise directly to consumers. With restraints lifted, spending on prescription drugs sored to more than six billion dollars a year and rising. Estimates suggest drug sales rise by four dollars for every dollar spent on advertising. These adds have been shown to increase the number of prescriptions written for those products.
