The History of the Alhambra

The heyday of the Alhambra is probably the late 19th century, that's when you start to get Alhambra musicals and Granada cinemas. So I think the cynical answer is by being dismembered, it became a cultural icon. What story on the ground made the Parliament a building or song on them? We don't know, but there are hints of a different version of them. And what could symbolise the work of Pericles and Coe was going to be the Parthenon,. which they then proceeded to throughout the 19th century - clear of all the things around it.
