The Role of Police Transparency in a Broader Project of Democratic Accountability
We're in the midst of a national debate about how to improve policing, or potentially dismantle it. There's a sense that police are not really and truly accountable to the communities that they serve. And i think transparency is a fundamental part of these bats. Without knowing what police are doing, we really can't hold them accountable using any sort of concept of accountability. The public can't govern what it doesn't know or understand.
