Is There an Islamic Golden Age of Science?

No one doubts that there's an Islamic golden age of science. The question is why doesn't it continue? One of the main arguments is that there is also a very significant theological critique against natural philosophy and Islamic theological critique againstNatural Philosophy. This is articulated by philosopher Al-Gazali and Islamic science never recovers from that because it doesn't satisfy itself in the face of this theological critique. In Christendom at the time medieval Europe which is far less scientifically developed you have universities as independent institutions of learning with sufficient robustness to keep on going. Those institutional organisations don't exist in the Islamic world.
