The History of Religion
The history of religion is back, and has become central to our understanding of the past in a way that perhaps would have surprised scholars. In the decades just after the second world war, there was a sense that religion was being consigned pretty firml to the past. And i fear it does for people in the west who weren't paying attention before that point. Religious belief is not necessarily something we can simply translate into concepts that the more secular among us find easier to understand.
