Jennifer Grace Bird teaches at the University of Portland and Portland Community College. She is a bible scholar and Permission Granted is her first "popular audience" book (she talks about that dubious category in the interview) and is intended for people to use in their communities to read scripture together.

The text itself is chock full of great stuff and comes along with questions to guide folks in reading along together as they make their way through the book, making sure they have their Bible nearby.
