Cratus' Head
By that stage, he was the third party in what was called the three-headed monster of Cratus, Caesar, and Pompey. And it was becoming very clear to him, I think, that he was falling down the league. He felt he could only be anywhere near the top if he matched Pompey and Caesar on the battlefield. The story is that Cratus' head arrived at the perfectly the right time, for there to be the plot in this play.
