The Impact of the Mechanical Clock on Time
Early clocks weren't perfect, but at least it's pretending to more exactitude in the measurement of time. So you both have these circular and traditional systems and these measured systems with the clock. I think it was people's active decision to follow the clock rather than the clock itself that had the biggest impact.
