What Do Peasants Do Outside of Work?

There is a lot of casual references to these festivals. In January there's plough Monday when you go round the young men in the village and beg for money which they then can spend on drinking. Summer games often held at Witson or in high summer. And one of the entertainment is often a Robin Hood play. So, there's a bit of imagination. It's not just drinking ale. There is some sort of ritual and culture involved in these activities. They do play music and they sing and they dance. We can't really say how often they sang or what they sang or anything of that kind. But we do know that these activities went on.
