Is Hacker a Negative Connotation?

English is a living language and sometimes you just have to admit that the language has moved on. Is hacker one of those words? Is it generally a negative term now? Jack, I can't imagine you haven't given this about yourself. "I think hacker has become such a common day parlance term"
