The Origins of the Flat Earth Society
Despite the overwhelming evidence the 19th century sees the emergence of the first flat earth societies how did they arise? Fundamentally I think that it was because of a distrust of authority if you like. People were setting out to understand things for themselves and as we said the shape of the earth is can't you intuitive it's actually not all that easy to prove it.
