Puerto Rico's Electricity Crisis
In 2016, Congress passed a law that aimed to restructure Puerto Rico's debt. The new law also broke up PRIPA's control of power by privatizing the electrical grid. Last year, an American Canadian company called Luma stepped up to manage the grid. There have been ongoing power outages since then.
