The Importance of Magna Carta

From the start Magna Carta was never just for nobles. It reached out to a wide constituency. On the other hand it certainly did discriminate against a large part of the population, the unfree peasants. But in its later versions MagnaCarta beginning in 1225 going on into the 14th century, those discriminatory chapters were altered and the charter does contain liberties for everybody. The last government had schemes to introduce court fees fees so you could bring your your cake if you wanted to bring civil litigation to the King's courts. That broke the fundamental action Magna CartA still on the statute book today saying that justice should be done.
