After the renaissance and the american armed forces, after vianom, we did develop a tremendous capability to employ military force. But what i think we forgot in the 19 nineties is that it's important also to consolidate any kind of military gains to get the sustainable political outcomes. I always think it must be so frustrating for your generation of senior us. Officers, you can deliver military impact anywhere in the world, at any time with such overwhelming force,. unlike really any armed force that has ever existed in the history of the world. You can dominate the battlefield, yet, as you say, victory and defeat is decided away from that battlefield.
