The Impact of Flying on the Environment
Banning short-haul flights would be of great benefit to the environment. Airlines and aviation companies have suggested some other solutions. These include using more sustainable aviation fuels or building hydrogen or electric planes, but these will take years to implement. Another approach is for airlines to choose their routes better. Just 2% of flights produce 80% of all contrails - this means changing a few flight paths could dramatically reduce the environmental impact of flying.
