JF: I'm trying to remember how the subject came up in the first place. We started corresponding on one of the very first things that we talked about was the third table. And so you hit me to that. The word he uses for what objects do to us is I love the word it's allure. So objects work on us by alluring us to them, but they always withdraw. They don't fit our categories of perception only accidentally and incidentally. JF: What Lovecraft is trying to do is to get us face to face with the true horror of these things.
