The Importance of Listening to Music
I often think of actually this Alvin Lucier piece, a music for a solo performer where he hooked himself up to EEG reader and he has percussion instruments nearby him that will resonate sympathetically when he enters that alpha state. None of that is coming through in the playback. So I think it's like a weird piece in this way that he repeatedly put this on stage and let audience members sit there and watch it because the relationship between what he's going through and what they're hearing is just so drastic.
