Climate Change and the Nuclear Tests in the 20th Century
Nuclear testing in the 50s and 60s has a sort of dual effect as you explained in the book. It actually has this effect of suppression of the climatic change so the sort of gradual warming in the 20th century is slightly slowed by the effects of nuclear testing. The detonation of about 400 plus nuclear bombs atmospheric with atmospheric consequences eject large amounts of fine materials into the atmosphere that looks like the earth from from sons raised, produces a spell of cooling in the first instance. And I think that that is a kind of unforeseen consequence that turned out better than some of those who worked on the early nuclear programs are worried about they were worried that a nuclear detonation would ignite
