How Much of Your Characters Are Based on You and Your Parents?
I do love that you open an quintessential LA experience, which is picking someone up at LAX. And it was really cool to see a mother-son relationship where they can still communicate with each other, but they still aren't. It's because of ideology instead of like language barriers. Yeah. So much of writing is really just about naming your own experience first and seeing how it's different from all the other stories you've ever read. In real life, my mother was an activist, my mother did that kind of work on Black Korean relations in South LA in the 1980s. so I can't really take credit for that innovation.
