C Carthage grew to be incredibly important because it was a Phoenician colony. But at some point in its existence, it had a distinct cultural shift. And the Carthaginians are more like conquerors. So they retain the Phoenician seafaring excellence, but also now with this taste for conquest. It has this 700-year period of expansion and then severe decline when it clashes with Rome.
