Peter Singer was once described by an enthusiastic journalist as the world's most influential living philosopher. He is perhaps best known for a book entitled simply Animal Liberation, written almost five decades ago. In it, he makes the case for an end to the speciesism which underpins human exploitation of animals. Are we living in an age which has become frightened of thinking the unthinkable? Well, Peter Singer joins me now.
