The Politics of Primary Voters Has Changed a Lot in the Last 8 Years, Right?
When I say that retail politics doesn't particularly matter anymore, I'm talking about the way that campaigns were run in 2016. It's the period of time between the telegraph and talk radio happening. And just like so much has changed, the way that information and validators and people who can successfully endorse someone works has completely changed. You have more people going on Tucker Carlson to make their case to the American public than you do someone going to the Des Moines Register in Iowa. Even with Tucker Carlson, he's not exactly the most influential guy in the game.
