The Importance of Tool Use in Creativity

I think the cut up machine is an example of where the novel approach to take essentially taking these paragraphs and phrases and they're literally cut up and then we combine. And yet, when I've read cut up literature, it's noise. It's mostly noise. Sometimes I like it, but most of the time it doesn't quite connect for me. The way I was doing it was I would do that and then I would look to see where there were interesting connections.
